The funeral of Alma M Siebels, 78, former Monticello resident, was held Monday morning, Oct. 27, at st Matthew Lutheran church with burial in Oakwood cemetery Rev. Harold L Naig officiated
Mrs. Siebels died Thursday, Oct 23, at Tarzana hospital, Reseda, Calif., after several weeks illness.
She was born June 7, 1897, in East Friesland, Germany, daughter of Henry and Margaret Folkerts Andreesen. The family came to the United States in 1907 and settled in Wayne township
she received her early education in Jones county rural schools She married Carl W Siebels May 2, 1917 in Wayne Zion Lutheran church
The cuple farmed in Wayne township until 1931 when they moved to Anamosa and then to Monticello.
In 1957, the couple moved to Reseda, Calif, and Mrs Siebels continued to make her home there after her husband's death Aug 27, 1959.
Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bernice Harms of Monticello and Mrs. Fay (Clarice) Haeussler of Reseda, Calif.; two sons, Carl H of Monticello and Donald of Reseda, Calif.; 16 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are four sisters, Mrs. Louise Gerdes of Anamosa, Mrs Edwin (Hannah) Carlson of Arlington, Tex, Mrs Bernell (Clara) Schwirtz of Martelle and Mrs. Grace Woodworth of Kennebec, Wash
She was preceded in death by a son, Alvin Dec 9, 1951, two sisters, and five brothers.
Casket bearers were John Husman, Bernard Barker, Timothy Siebels, James Siebels, Robert Clark and Georbge Richardson.
