DEATH OF COL. WILLIAM P. BOONE
Col. William P. Boone, formerly a resident of this place, and a law student of Judge Porter, died in Louisville on [the] 24th of Peritonitis, Mr. Boone is a brother of Upton Boone of Boone township, this county. Among other resolutions adopted by the Louisville bar in respect to his memory were the following:
“Boone was a patriot, and although his sympathies must have been in common with the Southern people, he looked upon the dismemberment of the republic as the master evil, and the one first and last to be avoided.
“He was singularly free from the vices common to humanity; and but a few weeks ago he was in robust health and busily engaged in the active pursuit of life. He has died in the midst of his [illegible], and leaves behind him an interesting family and many friends to deplore his loss, with scarcely an enemy to breath aught against his name.” --The Corydon Democrat (Corydon, Indiana); Monday, 01 Feb 1875 ; pg. 4, col. 1
