Stanley Hinzman, 66, of Badger, died Thursday, Dec. 30, 2010 at the Paula J. Baber Hospice Home.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 3, 2011 with the Rev. Jim Tigges celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Humboldt. Interment and military honors will be held in the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Van Meter. Visitation will be held from 4:00 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at Gunderson Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Fort Dodge. In accordance to Stanley's wishes, his body will be cremated.

Stanley Curtis Hinzman, the son of Earl and Fern (Douglas) Hinzman, was born June 26, 1944 in Amana, Iowa. He attended school in Amana and later served in the Marine Corps. from 1961 - 1967. Stanley served during the Vietnam war and was honorably discharged with the rank of Sgt. E-5. On April 28, 1973, Stanley was united in marriage to Carol Freilinger. The couple made their home and raised their family in Badger. Stanley was employed as a Federal Meat Inspector working in Fort Dodge, Iowa Falls and Storm Lake, retiring in 2000. He was a member of the Local Union #766.

Stanley was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Badger Lions club.

Survivors include his wife Carol, his children Dawn (Eric) Schwartz of Lee Summit, MO, Chris (Neva) Hinzman of Kelley, Joy Groat of Humboldt, Julie Hinzman of Denver, CO, Danny Hinzman of Vincent, and Nick Hinzman of Springfield, IL; six grandchildren, Lily, Keegan, and Griffin Groat, Natalie Schwartz, Curtis and Audrey Hinzman; his siblings Warren, Clark, Gary and Lucy Hinzman. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Judy and Sharon and brother Lowell.
