LULA "LOU" "MOM-MAW" VINES, 83, of Angleton, TX, passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at her home with family by her side. She was born to Eurie and Bertha K. Coleman in Bonita, LA. She was a Class of 1944 graduate of Bonita High School. On July 15, 1946 she married Virgil Douglas Vines in Louisiana where they lived and had 8 children before moving to their final home in Angleton in 1961.
In Angleton she managed Bud's Restaurant for many years, was the hospitality chairwoman of the Brazoria County Seashell Searchers Club, a member of the Precious Moments Collectors Club, and a member of Second Baptist Church in Angleton where she taught Sunday school. Mom-Maw was a caregiver for over 30 years to numerous children that came through her home daycare. She enjoyed walking the beach, bird watching, sewing, collecting sea shells, owls, precious moments, pelicans, enjoyed listening to all sporting events- Houston Astros and Rockets; and taking special care of her son, Donnie.
Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers Junior, John, Lewis, Herman, Hershey, and Willie Coleman; grandson Jared Kossum; great-grandson Jacob Dugger and special friends, Rachel "Little Momma" Griffis and Mary Guthrie.
She is survived by her brothers, Ellis Ray, Faye, and Wayne Coleman; children, Linda Beall, Wanda Martin, Pat Miller, Brenda Kossum, Chuck Vines, Jimmy Vines, Donnie Vines and Lee Vines; grandchildren, Bryan Scott, Charlie and April Martin, Spencer and Shane Miller, Chelsea West, Tobie Armstrong, Judd and Kyla Kossum, Jason, Melanie, Chris and Kim Vines, Heather, Hallie, and Hanna Clegg, Connie Vines, Ashley McGill, and Lindsey Vines; 22 great-grandchildren and special friends, Dean Harris, Stella Lostrocco, and Dale Margoliner.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 28, 2010 from 6 to 8pm at Palms Funeral Home in Angleton, TX. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at 10am at Second Baptist Church in Angleton with burial to immediately follow at Angleton Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Jason Vines, Chris Vines, Shane Miller, David Hancock, Ronnie Clegg and Wayne Woodard.
