Hoffman were appointed a committee to take subscriptions to raise money to build a new church at this place." Mr. Hoffman was a respected member fo the church and the community being a surveyor. Three and one-half years later on May 21, 1899, "A congregational meeting was held ... the objective of the meeting was to build a new church at this place." Elected to a church building committee were Jacob Jenkins, Miles Withers, N. N. Stroup, A. J. Jenkins and A.W. Hoffman. If this weren't enough, Mr. Hoffman also served as secretary of the congregation. His beautiful handwriting is still visible on church records fo that day. The church built in 1899 served the congregation until 1968. ... Ambrose and Ella Hoffman lived on the Stanley-spencer Mountain Road."
