Nancy was the daughter of Stephen & Nancy Bowen Stone. She married Ezekiel Gilbert, 26 Oct 1847, Coles County, Illinois. They had thirteen children:

Mrs. Nancy Gilbert, one of the early pioneers of Shelby(sic) county, died at her home south of Oconee. She had been in failing health for some time past and suffered much. The body was shipped to Charleston, Ill., where interment will be made today.
