Her parents were John Cox and Sarah Moore Barton Cox. Apparently Sarah divorced John and went back to using the name of her prior husband who had died on her (Wilson Barton). At some point Bessie started using the same name, even though she was not a daughter of Wilson's (I've found census records where she went by Barton instead of Cox, even after she was an adult).
