Mr. Peter Painter died at his home near Alma, Sept. 9, 1904, in the 79th year of his age.
He leaves two sons and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Rhinehart, Peter C. and James A. Painter, all of this county.
He was the last of the old generation of Painters who have been prominent in this county for the last one hundred years. Some of his ancestors were the early settlers of this country. His funeral was preached on Monday by Elder Daily.
Mr. Peter Painter, whose death we have just mentioned, dug the first grave that was ever dug at Graves' Chapel. The first person buried there was an old colored woman belonging to Mr. Thos. J. Grave's father.
