Born in Moline, Ill., on Jan. 6, 1945, she was the daughter of Albert and Louise Ehlers Castens.
She was a licensed practical nurse and a member of Flatwoods Baptist Church, where she was secretary of Livewires and sang in the church choir.
Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Rusty and Tammy Clark of Mountain View; a daughter and son-in-law, Melva Kay and Mickey Brannon of Mountain View; three brothers, Ron Castens of Broken Arrow, Okla., Jim Castens of East Moline, Ill., and Gene Goetting of Steeleville, Ill.; four sisters, Jeanine Gale of Ava, Ill., and Phylis Johnson, Evelyn Bennett and Debbie Castens, all of Moline, Ill.; and three grandchildren, Kayla Brannon, Malorey Branoon and Stormy Clark, all of Mountain View.
The funeral began at 2 p.m. today at Flatwoods Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Harper officiating. Burial was in Flatwoods Cemetery under the direction of Crouch Funeral Home of Mountain View.
Pallbearers were L.J. Clark, L.W. Clark, Dallas Clark, Elgie Clark, Obia Clark, Otto Clark, Tim Clark and Arvin McMahan. Honorary pallbearers were Burt Turner, Kelly Robinson and Bill Kepple.
It may also be noted that Louise (Carol's mother) died in a fire just a few short months after she was born and that she was then raised by her aunt and uncle, Mathilda and Albert Goetting in southern Illinois. Many thanks, Stephanie (Ehlers) Thornton
