Alice K. Brenton-Echtinaw, 88, of Charlotte, MI died Wednesday, August 5, 2009. Mrs. Echtinaw was born July 31, 1921 in Evart, MI the daughter of Frank and Susan (Agnes) Church Carpenter. Mrs. Echtinaw was a stay at home mom who loved her family and began her career after raising them. She was a Nurses Aide and a Ward Clerk at Hayes Green Beach Hospital in Charlotte, MI and finished out her career at Pennock Hospital in Hastings, MI at the age of 65.
She is survived by her sons, Jim (Brenda) Brenton of Charlotte, Bob (Diane) Brenton of Lansing, Bill (Susie) Brenton of Charlotte, and Stan (Jayme) Brenton of TX; many grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Illah (Lyle) French; brothers, John Carpenter, Edwin (Fran) Carpenter and Bruce "Mick" (Janet) Carpenter. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Oscar Brenton in 1968; second husband, Kenneth Echtinaw in 2003; brothers, Orby "Orb" Carpenter, Howard "Howdie" Carpenter, Burton "Bert" Carpenter, Rholland "Archie" Carpenter; Lawrence "Frecks" Carpenter, Francis "Francie" Carpenter, Harry Carpenter, and Oren Carpenter; sister, Sarah "Iona" Kizziar.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 10, 2009 at Pray Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Brail officiating. Interment will be at Maple Hill Cemetery, Charlotte, MI. Visitation will be Monday, August 10, 2009 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., just prior to the funeral service at Pray Funeral Home.
