Albin Godfred Ambur was born in 1884 in Platte, Dakota Territory. He was one of five children born to Peter Magnus Ambur and Christina Louise Shill who migrated to Charles Mix County from Sweden in 1877. After his parents died Albin lived with the Ed Bogues of Lincoln County and attended Pleasantville School. He homesteaded in a sod house in Interior, SD. near the Badlands in 1912 before coming back to Lincoln County. He attended a Sioux Falls Business School, did carpentry work around the area and farmed. Albin married Grace Burney in 1919. After living elsewhere in the community they settled on Grace's home farm, the northeast corner of Section 13, Delaware Township in 1929. To this union five children were born: Robert, Willard, Ellenore, Gilbert and Donald.
