Mr. Eichelbaum was born in Norfolk and attended the University of Virginia until World War II. During the war, he served in the Army, achieving the rank of captain. Following the war, he returned to Norfolk, and was president and founder of Atlantic Disposal Inc. He was a member of Temple Israel in Norfolk, and was a past president of the Jewish Community Center.
Survivors include his wife, Judith S. Eichelbaum of Norfolk; his three daughters, Cathy Eichelbaum of Norfolk, Linda Collier and her husband, Guy, of Potomac, Md., Beth Buckman and her husband, David, of Merion, Pa.; his daughter-in-law, Lisa E. Rosenbach and her husband, Murray, of Virginia Beach; and 10 grandchildren, Leigh, Jill, Suzanne, Julia, Daniel, Staci, Melissa, Andie, Erin and Jamie. He also is survived by his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Joan and Harry Harrison, and nieces Anita Kruger, Gail Grossman and Nancy Wall. He was predeceased by his son, Steven H. Eichelbaum.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Forest Lawn Cemetery by Rabbi Michael Panitz and Cantor Elihu Flax. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Steven H. Eichelbaum Camp Scholarship Fund, c/o Jewish Community Center, 7300 Newport Ave., Norfolk, VA 23505. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
