Theresa Laverne Howard, age 84, of Himyar, died Sunday, December 26, 2010 in the Pineville Community Hospital. She was a daughter of the late Lewis and Elevlyn (Schumacher) Gagne, born to them on June 12, 1926 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Mrs. Howard had worked as a Physcial Therapist at a Minneapolis hospital, and later she worked at the Lend-A-Hand Center at Walker for over 15 years, and was a member of the Artemus Christian Church. On December 16, 1945, she united in marriage to Gene Howard, and to this union a son: Lonnie Gene and a daughter: Deborah Louise were born. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by husband: Gene Howard on May 31, 1989, and by a sister:Bernice Waltz.
She is survived by her loving family: her son: Lonnie Gene Howard and wife, Rose of Himyar; her daughter: Deborah Louise Shaffer and husband, David of Minneapolis, Minnesota; her 5 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; her 3 sisters: Catherine Mauer, Doris Briskey, and Marie Dennis all of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and many other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.
Funeral Services for Theresa Laverne Howard will be 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, December 29, 2010 in the Hopper Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Doug Martin officiating. Burial will follow in the Farley Cemetery at Himyar. Those serving as Pallbearers will be family and friends. Those serving as Honorary Pallbearers will be the Artemus Christian Church. Hopper Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements.
