Homer B. Coiner, former member of the House of Delegates and prominent farer of near Waynesboro, who died yesterday morning at the University Hospital after an illness of several weeks, will be laid to rest in the Zion Cemetery tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon after funeral services at Zion Church at 2:30 o'clock. The services will be conducted by Rev. C. E. Brandt, pastor of the Main Street Methodist Church in Waynesboro, assisted by the Rev. J. Luther Mauney, pastor of Zion-St. James Lutheran Congregation.
Active pallbearers will be: H. T. Ritchie, Frank Grove, Strickler McCune, C. A. Marks, Jr. Earl Brower and Emmett Barger.
Honorary: J. H. Furr, R. G. Vance, Olaf Oas, Boyd Stombock, J. E. Drumheller, Wilbur Coiner, Frank Berry, J. Wade Coiner, Alfred Groves, R. B. Miller, Grover Coiner, Charles Grove, Virgil Foster and Homer Lucas.
Having been in ill health throughout the winter, Mr. Coiner left his home here several weeks ago to seek improvement in his health while visiting his daughter, Mrs. J. L. Link, at Daytona Beach, Florida. He became ill enroute South and was taken immediately to a hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Later his condition becoming critical, he was brought to the University Hospital, where death occurred yesterday morning.
Long prominent in the political life of the County and a n influential farmer, Mr. Coiner was highly esteemed by a wide circle of friends, and his death came as a distinct shock to the community. He was a life-long member of the Main Street Methodist Church here.
Mr. Coiner married Miss Mattie Sue Weade, of Mt. Crawford, who died six years ago.
