J.H. McWhorter, 82, married in 1917 at Post, Texas to Ruth Ledbetter. He moved to Olney and the area in 1917. McWhorter was a farmer and rancher. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survived by his wife; one son - MIlton McWhorter of Iowa Park; four sisters - Miss Della Mae McWhorter and Mrs. Alma Cope, both of Seymour, Mrs. Fannie Davis of Lockney, Mrs. Mattie Ledbetter of Clyde; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren.
