Ivan Palmer Evilsizer was the youngest son of Clarence Elmer Evilsizer and Ora Belle Martin. He was born on the 15th Day of February, 1928 in St. Clair, Missouri located about 50 miles southwest of St. Louis. He was born at home on a farm known locally as the "George Reed Place" located across the Meramec River from the Meramec Caverns. His father, a carpenter, built the house in which he was born. He attended Sullivan High School in Sullivan, MO, where he met Helen Barnes. She also attended the same church. Helen's mother did not approved of the Evilsizer family as her mom would say "they would never amount to a hill of beans." Mrs. Barnes once stopped my father on the street and told him to stay away from her daughter.

Ivan enlisted in the Army in February of 1946 and inducted at Jefferson Barracks near St. Louis. He went from there to Fort Leavenworth , Kansas for a week. While there, he called Helen and asked her to come to visit since. When she arrived, he took her on a romantic stroll by the lake and proposed marriage. She turned him down. He was then sent to Fort Eustis, Virginia for basic training. He learned he would be shipped out to Europe, so he decided to make one last attempt with Helen. He called her and proposed again, but this time she accepted. She took the train to Virginia, but they found there was a three-day waiting period. They then took the bus to Elizabeth City, North Carolina a hundred miles away. They found a Baptist Minister by the name of Outlaw and were married shortly before midnight on July 15, 1946.

Ivan took his new wife and left Missouri for Dallas, Texas. He majored in Accounting at the Draughton Business College. Helen worked , helping him through school. There they bought their first home, first car, first TV, and their first child, Sandra Jean was born there on the 28th day of August, 1949.

In 1950, Ivan and Helen rented their home and moved to Wichita Falls, Texas where he worked for Jarmon Van Lines. From 1952, he went to Mobile Alabama and worked as a comptroller for Montgomery Wards. He returned to Texas by 1954 and worked for a while at the new General Motors Plant in Arlington. In 1955 they moved to Los Angeles California and again worked for General Motors. It was here, while living in Lynwood, California, their second child, Ivan Charles Evilsizer was born October 22, 1958.

Ivan and family then moved across the United States in 1959, to Tampa, Florida. He went to work for Yocam & Diamond Batteries and in 1963, he received a promotion and was relocated to Jacksonville, Florida. While in Jacksonville, he went back to work for Montgomery Wards, and they transferred him to Tallahassee, Florida in 1971 to open a new store.

Ivan made his final move on March 1, 1972 to San Diego, California. He worked as a Controller and Chief Financial Officer for several companies over the next twenty-five years. He died in his home in San Diego, January 1, 1997, of liver cancer.

Ivan wrote his Autobiography entitled "My Life and Times" in 1993. In this book he details his life and travels in exceptional detail. His children are in possession of his book.
