Alvaretta (Henry) Burns Fredregill

Services for Alvaretta (Henry) Burns Fredregill, 96, of Lufkin, will be held in the Gipson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Ron Luman officiating. Interment will follow in the Freeman Cemetery.

Mrs. Fredregill was born March 24, 1917 in Franklin, Texas, the daughter of the late Mattie Bell (Winn) and George Washington Henry. She passed away Tuesday, September 10, 2013 in a local hospital.

Mrs. Fredregill and her husband owned and operated the Checker Cab Company Taxi Service in Lufkin for a number of years, and they loved the involvement with the community. They lived on a farm where she enjoyed the country life and her old cow. She enjoyed playing Dominoes and Yahoo and watching 'Price is Right' and 'Gunsmoke'. She also enjoyed gardening. She believed in supporting the fund for the peace officers that fell in the line of service. Mrs. Fredregill was baptized on August 19, 1984 and was a member of First United Pentecostal Church. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Lufkin.

Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, James Lee and Mary Burns; daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Isidro Flores; daughter, Betty Jo Flowers; stepson, Franklin 'Bill' Fredregill; stepdaughter, Nellie Garcia; sister, Ophelia Milligan; plenty of grandchildren; plenty of great-grandchildren; and blessed with many great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Fredregill was preceded in death by her husbands, James Irving Burns and Aaron Fredregill; daughter, Ruby Sue Anthony; stepsons, James A., Mack M. and Joe A. Fredregill; stepdaughter, Betty Baker; sisters, Ruby Mae, Lillian and Doris Faye; and brothers, Roy, Guy, William 'Bill' and F. J.
