BAUGH, Wendell Philip - The Pulaski Citizen 17 Jul 1968

Dr. Wendell Philip Baugh, 78, prominent Decatur, Ala., surgeon and native of Elkton, died Sunday afternoon, July 14, at his home after an illness of several weeks.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 10:30 at Guntharp Funeral Chapel in Decatur with burial in Roselawn Cemetery in that city.

The son of the late Dr. J. E. and Elizabeth Beaty Baugh of Elkton, he was educated at Morgan Preparatory School, Petersburg, and received the M. D. degree from the University of Louisville. He was married to the former Clara Bull of Elkton who died several years ago.

Dr. Baugh, who served as a surgeon in the U. S. Army Medical Corps during World War I, was co-founder of Decatur's only private hospital, Baugh-Wiley-Smith Hospital. Several years ago he was named Decatur's "Man of the Year."

Survivors include two sons, Robert Baugh of Decatur and W. Philip Baugh, Jr., of Nashville; three brothers, John Ed of Santa Monica, Calif., Robert of Columbus, Ga., and Joe Baugh of Chapel Hill; two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Glaze of Decatur and Mrs. Earl Smith of Homosassa, Fla.; and several grandchildren.
