James Barthel, 77, passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, at Elmcroft nursing home in Pocahontas.
Mr. Barthel was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy, he was also the first person to become an Eagle Scout in Randolph County and was very active in charitable work.
He is survived by his daughter, Anne Barthel of New York, N.Y.; one aunt, Regina Baltz; two cousins, Mary Jones and Pat Barthel and their families.
Burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery.
