Sadie was a twin. Her mother, Margaret Elizabeth Pegues was married to James M. Anderson and then he died when the children were young. With him she had the twins, Sadie and Mayme, Nettie, and a little boy who died at age 2, Eddie. She then married again (Thomas Jefferson Philbrick) and had the children, Marie and Lucy. Her third husband was Wesley William Squires. Sadie loved to cook and she was an intense Christian. She also loved to document (on many tiny scraps of papers) the family tree or stories of relatives. She would have loved me. It's like she wrote this information knowing that someone down the road would be interested in it. She was right. Sadie was married twice, too. She had Harry first, and then Tid. Harry died when he was 7 years old. It absolutely devastated the family. Mont moved the family away to Missouri but Sadie left him because he wouldn't "provide" for them and they were starving. She and Tid lived above a whore house in Liberty, Missouri. One day while walking home from work, she found a bunch of wood in the back of the whore house. Being winter and the air was cold, she gathered up the wood and brought it upstairs to have wood for a fire. Upon seeing that the wood was actually a dresser that had been beaten up and misused, she and TId went to work reassembling the dresser instead of burning it for warmth. I still have that dresser in my bedroom. When Grandma Sadie married Leon Jules Villard, they moved to the upper peninsula of Michigan where they lived in a logging camp. My dad, Leon Jacques Villard was born in Lake Mine, Michigan, which doesn't exist today, but was in Marquette County, Michigan. One day grandpa Villard got mad at Tid and was going to hit her. Sadie stepped in front of Tid and told him that if he layed a hand on the child that she would kill him where he stood. He never touched her again and a few months later he left for good. One very poor Christmas, Sadie wanted to give Dad a special evening, even though they were dirt poor, and so she had Tid go outside and pretend to be "Santy Claus". When she came to the door saying "ho ho ho", Dad took one look at her and exclaimed, "Oh, it's just Tid" and shut the door. Sadie loved her children more than anything else. She used to call Tid her "little brown baby" and she let Tid get away with alot. Her pride and joy, however, was Dad, perhaps because he was so much like her baby boy, Harry, whom she lost in 1911. Everyone always described Sadie as the most kind woman you would ever meet
