C. Helen Black, 81, of 118 S. Union died at 6:52 a.m. Sept. 29, 1985 at the Ottumwa Regional Health Center.

She was born Feb. 22, 1904 in Cedar Rapids to William A. and Birdie Mae Lambert Hensley. A resident of Cedar Rap;ids for 60 years, she lived in Ottumwa from 1966 to 1974, and since 1979. She was a member of the Pickwick Church of Christ in Ottumwa and had been a member of the Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids. She married Oscar C. Black on May 7, 1922. He died May 16, 1964.

She is survived by a daughter Dorine Gruwell of Ottumwa; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and a brother, the Rev. William Hensley of Lawrence, Kan. She was preceded in death by a son, James.

The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Central Church of Christ in Cedar Rapids, the Rev. Paul Prescott of Marshalltown officiating. Burial will be in Linwood Cemetery at Cedar Rapids.

The family will be at the Reece Funeral Home from 7-8:30 p.m. today.

A memorial has been established to the Pickwick Church of Christ in Ottumwa.
