Alice Tammen Hegwer, 88, died October 16, 2010, in Wichita Falls.

The funeral services will be at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, October 19, 2010, at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church with the Reverend Dale O. Snyder, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Crestview Memorial Park. Visitation will be at Owens & Brumley Funeral Home Monday, October 18, from 6 until 8 p.m. Arrangements are under the direction of Owens & Brumley Funeral Home of Wichita Falls.

Alice was born December 28, 1921, in rural Clay County. She attended Dean-Dale School, graduated as Valedictorian of Petrolia High School in 1939, and attended Hardin Junior College. Alice married Andrew Wayne Hegwer November 9, 1942, in Lawton, Oklahoma. They traveled extensively during his Air Force career and lived in eight states before retiring to Wichita Falls in 1965.

Survivors include daughters, Andra Smith and husband V.A. of Wichita Falls, Winnie Vetrano and husband Sal of Leakey, Texas; son, Allen of Wichita Falls; grandchildren, Kristin Harris, Jessica Crane, Ashley Stewart, and Adam Hegwer of Wichita Falls; and six great-grandchildren. Alice was preceded in death by her husband and her parents, Haukewina "Winnie" Smith and John Reed.

Memorials may be made Our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 4605 Cypress Avenue, 76310, for the Building Fund or Scholarship Fund; or to Hospice of Wichita Falls, 4909 Johnson Road, 76310.
