LaRoy C. Van Rensselaer, 85, husband of Mrs. Arita Snyder Van Rensselaer of Keedysville, died at Reeder Nursing Home in Boonsboro Thursday evening at 5 after an illness of three years.
Born in Bellwood, Pa., he was the son of R. Schuyler and Arietta Archer Van Rensselaer. He was a direct descendant of Killian Van Rensselaer who founded the West India Co., which settled New Amsterdam - now New York City.
He resided most of his life in Burlington, N. J., and was a resident of Washington County for the past eight years.
Mr. Van Rensselaer was a member of the Burlington Lodge 32, F&AM, of Burlington.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two nieces and two great nephews.
Services will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Sharpsburg at 3 p. m., Saturday, the Rev. William M. Moore officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Keedysville. The family will receive friends at the Bast Funeral Home in Boonsboro this evening from 7 to 9.
