Bertha Viola Baxter Hayes
Funeral for Bertha Viola Baxter Hayes, 88, Chickasha, will be held at 3:30 pm Friday, October 4, 1996 in the Chapel of Sevier Funeral Home.
She was born Aug. 26, 1908, in Olustee, the daughter of Homa and Mattie Pearl (Kitching) Burnett, and died Wednesday, Oct. 2, 1996 in Chickasha.
Mrs. Hayes had lived in Chickasha most of her life.
She and Garl Adamson Baxter were married April 6, 1929, in Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1935. She later married Plummer Lee Hayes on Nov. 13, 1943, in Chickasha. He preceded her in death in 1972.
Mrs. Hayes was a homemaker until 1989 when she entered a local nursing home.
She was a member of the Northside Church of Christ.
Mrs. Hayes was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, two infant brothers, and three sons.
Survivors include seven daughters and five sons-in-law; two brothers, Arthur Burnett of Phoenix, Ariz., John Burnett of Atwater, Calif.; three sisters, Ruby Evans, Ruth Autry, both of Shawnee, Pearl Huggins of Chickasha; 25 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, five great great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Interment will be in Rose Hill Cemetery under the direction of Sevier Funeral Home.
