ROCKLAND – Abbie Frances Belyea, 76, died Friday, at Maine Medical Center, Portland, surrounded by her family after battling two illnesses.

She was born in Cushing, the daughter of Asa and Margaret Curtis. She attended school in Cushing.

While a stay-at-home Mom was her first priority, she also did accounting for her self-employed husband. Some of her favorite past times were shopping with her daughters, cooking and baking; especially her famous cream pies. She particularly enjoyed participating with the Lancers Color Guard and the Royal Coachmen Color Guard as their lead chaperone. Her greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Belyea was predeceased by her parents, one son, Robert Moon; her brother, her sister, one nephew, and son-in-law, Duane Brown. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, John of Rockland; two sons, Roger of Brunswick, Ronald and his companion Jody of Waldoboro; three daughters, Patricia and her husband Andrew of Saco, Phyllis, Pamela and her husband Judson, all of Union; ten grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and two eagerly-anticipated great-grandchildren; as well as one niece, and one nephew.

Pastor Douglas Anderson officiated.

Interment at Village Cemetery, South Thomaston.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Heart Association, 51 US Route One, Suite M, Scarborough, ME 04074 or American Cancer Association, New England Division, Inc., One Main Street, Suite 300, Topsham, Maine 04086-1240.
