Dale W. Jorgensen, 84, died Sunday, September 10, 2006 at Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital from complications of West Nile virus. Dale was born April 19, 1922, on the family farm in Kearney, County, near Osco, Nebraska to Byron David & Ethel Christine (Ostergaard) Jorgensen.

Dale graduated from Holstein High School in 1939. and also from Hastings Business College. He served in the United States Army Air Corp during World War II and the 41st Infantry Division from January 1942 to January 1946. On May 10, 1948, he married Virginia Smydra at St. Mary's Cathedral, Grand Island, Nebraska. From 1959 until 1972, he owned & operated Fairmont Ice Cream Store. He then went to work for the United States Post Office, until he retired as supervisor in 1984. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church, 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, American Legion, Eagles, Silver Haired Senators and NARFE, where he was President of the local chapter. He was a life member of D.A.V. & V.F.W. He was on the Board of Directors at the Hastings Credit Union for 20 years.

Dale was preceded in death by his parents.
