John Sommerville IZATT was born on 11 December 1837 at Dunfermline, Fife, Scotland. He enlisted in in Co H, 72nd Illinois of the Civil war in 1862 and fought at the Battle of Vicksburge. He married Christiana HEPTONSTALL, daughter of John HEPTONSTALL and Harriet BARRACLOUGH, on 17 October 1867 at East Saint Louis, Saint Clair County, IL. He died on 15 February 1914 at Bloomington, McLean County, IL, at age 76. Christiana died 22 Feb 1926 also at Bloomington, McLean County, IL. Both are buried in Park Hill Cemetery, Bloomington, McLean County, IL.
