Obituary from HL Herald - Otis Brose, age 68 of Howard Lake, passed away Thursday, June 11, 1998 at his home. Funeral services were held on Saturday, June 13 at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake.
(Delwin) Otis Brose was born June 29, 1929 in Victor Township, the son of Louis and Adelia (Custer) Brose. A life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, he was baptized on Aug. 11, 1929 and confirmed in his faith on March 29, 1942 by the Rev. E. N. Seltz.
He was united in marriage to Helen Thompson on October 20, 1950 at Zion Lutheran Church, Buffalo by the Rev. Alvar Perrson. Their 47 years together were blessed with the birth of four children.
Otis and Helen made their home on the Brose family farm south of Howard Lake in Victor Township. They farmed all their lives with their sons joining them in the farm operation.
Otis had also worked as a DHIA milk tester for Wright County. He was active in various organizations and served on the County Extension Board, Wright-Hennepin Electric Board and, while spending winters in Texas, the board of directors of Alamo Rec. As a member of St. James Church, he served as an elder.
On June 11, at his home, Otis Brose was called to his eternal rest at the age of 68 years, 11 months, and 13 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Adelia Brose.
Otis is survived by his wife Helen, of Howard Lake; two daughters, Rena and husband Clarence Marketon of Howard Lake, Wanda and husband LeRoy Biteler of Chanhassan; two sons, Keith and wife, Jeanne Brose of Howard Lake; Craig and wife, Toni Brose of Howard Lake.
He is further survived by nine grandchildren, Tanya, Kristopher and Kelly Brose, Howard Lake; Justin and Miranda Biteler, Chanhassen; Caitlyn, Cassandra, Jordan, and Jack Brose, Howard Lake; and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Saturday, June 13, 1998, 2 p.m., at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, with the Revs. Martin Schoenfeld and William Schultz officiating. The organist was Nancy Butterfass, with special music by soloist Marjorie Stueven. Interment was at the Howard Lake cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were Willis Birkholz, Clinton Lambert, Dale Stueven and Lorren Glessing. Active pallbearers were Donald Horsch, Burton Horsch, Gary Schmieg, Gilmore Schrupp, Kristopher Brose, and Justin Biteler.
