On his son John's death certificate Michael Dunnigan's birth city was listed as Ligeygrane, Ireland but I found no such city. It was surely misspelled or mispronounced when asked for when the death certificate was filled out.

The family name was also listed as Donnegan and other variant spellings but always with the same basic information.
His wife Mary O'Raw died in Ballymena, Ireland between July-September 1879. It appears that the family migrated to America in separate groups a few years after her death.
