Cyren served in the Civil War, with service credited to Brownington. He enlisted at the age of 24 on 3 Sep 1862. He mustered in on 22 Oct 1862 as a private in Co., I, 15th VT Infantry. He mustered out on 5 Aug 1863. He later received a pension. (https://vermontcivilwar.org/get.php?input=25249)

"The funeral of Cyren B. Ordway was held at his late home Thursday afternoon, Rev. E. W. Eldridge officiating. The G.A.R. and W.R.C attended in a body, and a part of the G.A.R. service was used. The bearers were Company I comrades of the deceased, Charles W. Cook of West Glover, A. W. Willey of Orleans, J. N. Webster of Barton and D. R. Cobb of Albany. (Orleans County Monitor, 12 Feb 1913)
