Hartford, April 18--William Roy Baysinger, infantryman, was killed in action in the Philippines March 6, according to news received by his wife Monday.
Sergeant Baysinger, oldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Baysinger, of Strawn, had served in the South Pacific theater 26 months. Entering the army July 24, 1942, he was sent to Australia and later New Guinea, where he was hospitalized for five months for treatment of wounds. In the Philippines he was sick with malaria and had returned to action only a short time before his death.
Sergeant Baysinger was born May 5, 1921. He married Mrs. Genevieve Stutesman January 10, 1942. In addition to his wife and parents, he is survived by a son, William Roy Baysinger, Jr., whom he had never seen; two brothers; five sisters; and four stepchildren, Roy Lee, Louise, Juanita and Glen Stutesman.
