Mrs. Mathilda Pauline Bieker (nee Tiemann), beloved wife of John Bieker, departed this life at her home three miles southeast of Washington, on Friday. February 21, 1941, at 5:05 p.m.. She was in ill health for the past year, and during the past week was seriously ill.
Mrs. Bieker was born in Washington, Missouri, on 24 Feb 1883, and was baptized and confirmed in the St. Francis Borgia church and educated in the parochial school.
She remained with her parents (Martin and Anna Marie (Breitenbach) Tiemann) until her marriage to John Bieker on October 28, 1908, after which time, she made her permanent home southeast of Washington. This marriage was blessed with seven children, two of whom died in infancy.
Her departure brings deep sorrow into the hearts of her family and loved ones, as she was a devoted wife and mother, and a sincere friend and neighbor. Being a lifelong citizen of Washington, she was well known here, and beloved by all her friends. Mrs. Bieker attained the age of 5 years, 11 months and 27 days at the time of her death.
The deceased was a member of the St. Francis Borgia church and the Married Ladies Solidarity.
Preceding her in death were her parents, one sister and one brother.
Surviving her departure is her deeply bereaved husband, Mr. John Bieker, four daughters, Mrs. Edward Brune, Mrs. Walter Schropfer, Misses Mathilda and Marie Bieker, and one son, Bernard Bieker; two sisters, Mrs. Frances Dieckhaus, St. Louis, Mo., and Mrs Edward Luecke, New Haven, Mo.; two brothers, William Tiemann, St. Louis, Mo., and Joseph Tiemann, Alton, Ill., and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted on Monday, February 24, 1941, at 9 o'clock at the St. Francis Borgia church. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
