She was three months old when her mother, Ella M. Fent, died - at the age of 19.
Her mother's dying request was that Amanda be given to her, Ella's, Great Aunt Clemency "Clemmy" (Fent) North, and her husband Robert Pierpoint North, to be raised.
At the grave site of her mother, Amanda was handed over the grave into the waiting arms of her Great Aunt. - This is per family history.
