Barbara Alene NAPIER, 72, of 2695 S. 700 East, Knox, died at 10:20 a.m. Sunday at Porter Memorial Hospital, Valparaiso, where she had been a patient. Her health had been failing for the past six months.
Born in Culver to Foster and Sylvia Pontius Butler, she married Carlo Bob Napier Sr. on Jan. 9, 1953, in Culver. He preceded her in death in 1992.
Barbara was a supervisor of the dining room at Culver Military Academy for 32 years prior to her retirement. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 6919 in Culver.
Survivors include one daughter, Betty J. and husband Donnie L. Ehlinger, Knox; one son, Carlo Bob Napier Jr., Alamo, Ga.; four granddaughters, Nickcole Arthurhultz, Barbara Lasanowski, Sarah McFarland, Katherine Napier; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Wayne Butler and wife Norma, Phoenix, Ariz., Robert Butler and wife Eileen, Culver; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Donna Herrell.
