Darrell W Hornbeck, 60, passed away Wed, Sept 6, 1995, following a lengthy illness. He was born in San Antonio, Tx, on March 18, 1935, and had resided in OKC for the past 24 years. Darrell spent 35 years in the insurance industry, spending 20 years as a marketer & recruiter. It was during this time that Darrell received national recognition for recruitment of 5,000 sales agents during a 12 month period. For this extraordinary achievement, he was recognized in the book "You Can If You Think You Can". In the early 1980s, he developed a large insurance brokerage division in OKC under the TransAmerica Life Companies of America. He went on to become a full partner in the Trans-America General Agency of Robinson-Hornbeck, Inc. This agency continually received national recognition for its high sales volume & cutting-edge brokerage innovations. These were reflective of Darrell's sales acumen & unique motivational talents. Darrell served as past president of the OK State Health Underwriters Assn, and president of the OKC Chapter of Life Underwriters. He served on the National boards of the American Society of CLU & ChFC. He was a certified instructor of CLU, RHU, and ChFC approved training courses. Darrell had earned all three insurance/financial designations while concurrently instructing those courses for other OK agents. He was a member of the Greens Country Club, where he loved to spend time on the golf course with his friends & associates. He was preceded in death by his mother Hazel Hall. He is survived by his wife Margaret (Biddy); three children, Mark, Michael, and Maggie; plus a host of good friends & insurance associates. Darrell was a loving husband and father and will be missed by all.
