William was born in Tyrone County, Ireland in 1736. He married to Sara Ann Stevens in 1750 in Ireland. They had 10 children together.

William came to Virginia following his parents in July 1759 and lived in Richmond until January, then moved to their Father's plantation until Spring when they settled in Botetourt County, Virginia.
He served in American Revolutionary War from Botetourt County, Virginia and was a Patriot & Pensioner of American Revolutionary War.

His Will filed in 1820 at Fincastle, Botetourt County,Virginia. Beca (#46937484)

The research I have done seems to indicate that this is not the son of Robert Kyle and Elizabeth Campbell. The documented dates do not match. 1730-1821 are the dates for their son.
I feel through the documentation I have that this William Kyle is the son of Sir John William Kyle and Elizabeth Kyle. (Ella Wimer (#48523295))

Note that this marker reads: Aged 50 years. This makes it quite impossible for it to be William Carter b. 1836 d.1821 & all associated information re: parents, etc. is incorrect. (contributor #49731486)
If you read the will of this William you will see that he is not a son of Robert and Elizabeth Campbell Kyle. Their son wrote his will in 1820 and was probated 1821 in Fincastle. The William in this record was a wealthy merchant along with his brothers David and Robert. They owned several businesses in Fincastle, Richmond, and New York. Their brother Hazlett lived in Raleigh NC and that is where Brother Robert died as per his will. The William in this record's Father was named Robert but he never left Ireland as per deeds with Son David. The William that was a son of Robert and Elizabeth Campbell will is dated 26 Nov 1820 and was proven in Fincastle Feb. 1821 .Supposed the mother of the William in this FAG was a Taylor because William mentions his Uncle Thomas Taylor in his will which was written 19 May 1828 and proved in court in Richmond and New York in 1832. His will is in Hustings Book 5-6.

William son of Robert and Elizabeth Campbell Kyle will is Botetourt County Will Book C 1815-1824 page 307. He is the one who married Sarah Stephens and her will is in Book E 1829-1838 page 390. I have not found a marriage record for the William in the FAG but he does have two sons that are mentioned in his will along with their Mothers.
