By age 17, Elizabeth was still living at home but working as a bookkeeper for a furniture store to supplement the family's income (1930 Census at LA, Orleans, New Orleans; ED 102; Ward 7, p 31-A; Family 442). Nevertheless, she managed to complete four years of high school. In October 1930, shortly after her 18th birthday, she married her 21-year-old, next-door neighbor, Remy Honoré, who had been clerking at a brokerage firm.
The young couple settled into city life but never had children. By the 1940 Census (New Orleans Ward 9; ED 36-234: Pg 4-A; Family 634), Remy was working as a bartender, perhaps at the Ansardi place, and Elizabeth was no longer officially employed. Remy, however, soon was drafted into the Second World War, leaving Elizabeth to wait and worry at home, like so many other women.
Although Elizabeth was an only child of her father's and had only one younger sibling, Bernard L Ansardi, by her mother and step-father with no children of her own, she was surrounded by nieces and nephews as well as great-nieces and nephews. Remy passed away at age 81, when Elizabeth was 78. She survived him by 12 years.
Her obituary was published in The Times-Picayune on 6 & 7 February 2002 (as transcribed at Obituaries Orleans Parish Louisiana via US GenWeb - LA)
