Mrs. Bowman was born Jan. 30, 1917, in Weyers Cave and was the daughter of the late Alfred R. and Fleta Stoner Glover.
She graduated from high school in Weyers Cave and received a bachelor of science degree from Madison College. She taught in the Albemarle County School System for a number of years and also in Rockingham County schools. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church.
On July 1, 1939, she married Joe Clower Bowman; he preceded her in death May 3, 2005.
Surviving are four children, Sue Ellen Addicott of Sarasota, Fla., Robert L. Bowman of Richmond, Alfred R. Bowman of Virginia Beach and Melanie Ann Schlosser of Hagerstown, Md.; a brother, Russell Glover of Mount Crawford, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Her body will be cremated at the Lindsey Cremation Chapel in Harrisonburg.
The Revs. Paul O'Gorek and Betsy Caudill will conduct a memorial service 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Meredith Chapel at Sunnyside Retirement Community. Burial will be private.
