A. Allen Landry, 71, of 21 Homestead Boulevard, died Sunday at home.

He was a manufacturers representative from 1962 to 1988 and worked for various companies, primarily for Conrad Fafard Inc. of Springfield, and for Estech Inc. of Portland, Conn., N.E. Seed Co. in Glastonbury, Conn., Neal Bulb Co. of New Jersey and Inter Export Co. in Sherbrooke, Canada.

He also worked part time for Chris Auto Sales in Springfield and at the Eastern States Exposition in West Springfield. From 1946 to 1954 he worked at Package Machinery in East Longmeadow as production manager in service, repair and sales. He later worked from 1954 to 1962 for the Wrap King Corp. in Holyoke as production manager.

He was born in Nashua, N.H., and lived in East Longmeadow for 30 years before moving here in 1980.

He was a graduate of Cathedral High School where he was Western Massachusetts champion in hockey, and later attended Northeastern University.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II and received the Victory Meda, and the American Area Ribbon. He saw action in the European African Middle Eastern theater where he received two bronze stars. He also received the Asiatic Pacific Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal. He served on the first ship in Nagasaki, Japan after the atomic bomb blast.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church here, a member of the East Longmeadow Lions Club for more than 40 years, and a charter member of the Knights of Columbus Holy Trinity Council No. 4306 in East Longmeadow for more than 30 years.

He leaves his wife, the former Dorothy M. Murray; a son, Robert P. Landry of Santa Clara, Calif.; a daughter, Anne M. Donais of South Hadley; and his extended family of five children, Thomas J. Harrison of Springfield; Cynthia J. Chasteen, Linda J. Grasso, Paula F. Payne all of Springfield, and Gail D. Hall of Longmeadow; a sister, Olive Desroches of Chicopee; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The funeral will be Wednesday morning from the St. Pierre Springfield Funeral Chapels, and in the church, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery , Springfield. Visiting hours Tuesday afternoon and evening.
