William Gilman Redwood, 80, of the 6200 block of Powhatan Ave., died Jan. 29, 1994, in a Norfolk hospital.
Mr. Redwood was born in Richmond, the son of Dr. Frank H. and Grace Gilman Redwood. He attended Woodberry Forest School and the University of Virginia and graduated from the University of Richmond. He was a 50-year member of the Norfolk Yacht and Country Club; a past president of the Virginia Camellia Society; a charter member of the Norfolk Sertoma Club; and an ordained deacon of First Presbyterian Church in Norfolk.
Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Chesson Redwood; two daughters, Elizabeth Redwood Milteer and Laura Leigh Giannelli and her husband, Michael; sister, Mrs. William A. Sutherland; three grandchildren, Charles E. Milteer III and his wife, Debbie, Grace Milteer Schaefermeier and her husband, Martin, and Asher Redwood Milteer; and three nieces, Dickson Cooke, Grace Lusk and Anne Cooke; and four grand-nephews.
A church service will be conducted at 11 a.m. today in First Presbyterian Church by the Rev. J. Shepherd Russell. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Cemetery. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apts., Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the First Presbyterian Church Deacons Fund.
