Virden - Harold E. Bearden, 88 of Virden, IL passed away at 8:20 a.m. Friday Dec. 17, 2010 at Pleasant Hill Village Girard, IL.
Harold was born Aug. 3, 1922 in Auburn, IL a son of Frank and Elva Eyer Bearden. He married Eleanor L. Kern in 1946 in Springfield, IL. Harold was a 1942 graduate of Virden High School, a U.S. Army WW II veteran serving in the South Pacific and was a member of the First Christian Church, Virden, IL and the Virden American Legion Post 386. Harold retired in 1984 after 42 years with Pillsbury Mills in Springfield, IL working as a machine operator and mechanic.
Harold was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor, and an infant daughter Gloria Jean.
Harold is survived by sons, Larry E. (Jody) Bearden of Virden, IL and Michael R. (Patricia) Bearden of Auburn, IL. a daughter Patricia A. Young of Thayer, IL , 10 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, 1 great great granddaughter, a sister Darlene Bee of Springfield, IL and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Sunday Dec. 19, 2010 at Calvert & Ferry Funeral Home Virden, IL with funeral services at 11:00 a.m. Monday Dec. 20, 2010 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Virden Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Virden American Legion or Prairieland Ambulance all of Virden, IL.
