Wendelin Eckart is the son of Anton and Sabina Schwab Eckard of Germany.

He was born in House #15, Michelsrombach, Hessen, Germany. Wendelin and and his brother Ferdinand (#37101773) changed their last name from Eckard to Eckart when they immigrated from Germany to Texas in 1883. Their sister Anna Eckard Mueller (#41566543) followed shortly after.

Wendelin married Emma Reininger on November 22, 1892 in New Braunfels, Texas.

They are the parents of Anetha, Katharine, George, Mary, Johnnie, Franklin, Elizabeth, and Florence Eckart.
