James Leroy Crain, 80,passed away December 14, 2010 at the Claremore Veterans Center, Claremore, Okla.

He was born on March 23, 1930 at Columbus, Kan., to Myrl Benjamin and Viola Mae George Crain.

James was educated in Columbus schools graduating from Columbus High School.

He moved to California in 1948 where he worked for the Studebaker car company. He returned to Kansas in 1951 and labored at several jobs. He worked as a lab tech for Phillips Petroleum for many years before he retired.

James enjoyed fishing, hunting and the outdoors in general.

James married Wilma Imel in 1948.

He married Elizabeth Arlene Crain in 1954.

In June 1977 he married Frances H. Chism in Oglesby, Okla. Frances survives at their home in Bartlesville, Okla.

Other survivors include a son, Tony Ray and wife Debi Crain, Niotaze, Kan.; daughter, Gayle Ann and husband
John Anderson, Bartlesville, Okla.; sisters, Frances and husband Dr. Robert LaForte, Pearland, Texas and Betty McGowan, Grove, Okla.; 12 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

James was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth Arlene Crain; sons, Myrlan James and David Gregory Crain; infant twin daughters, Linda and Brenda Crain; and a brother, William Dale Crain.

Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Friday, December 17, 2010, at the 1st Christian Church, 211 South Pine, Nowata, OK.

Burial will be in Park Cemetery, Columbus, KS, scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday. Memorial contributions may be given to
either 1st Christian Church of Nowata, OK or Center Christian Church, 3150 S W Center Rd., Columbus, KS 66725.

Benjamin Funeral Service has been entrusted to conduct these services.
