John V Grove & his father, Jacob Graff were veterans of the American Revolutionary war.

Wife, Mary Brown, daughter of William Brown [1745-1810] & Elizabeth Shepherd [1738-1788]. Elizabeth was a direct decendent of Thomas Shepherd of Shepherdstown, West Virginia, USA.

John V Grove, son of Jacob Graff and Catherine [Staley] Grove [see Jacob Graff German Reformed church cemetery in Sharpsburg, Washington, Maryland.

Attached to the will of John Grove is a note that states "this family spells the name GROVE".

Deeds relating to Jacob's will states "John Grove, late of Fayette county, Pennsylvania gets a 9th part of the estate of said Jacob Graff/Grove and mentions all of John's children:

Sarah, Jacob, Elizabeth, Catherine B, Shepherd B, John V, Parry B, Levi B, Hannah M, William B, Stephen, Harvey & Mary.

This cemetery is located next to Jacob's Lutheran church, ten miles outside of Masontown.
