Gertrude Elmira Foster, the daughter of John and Hannah Johnston Andre, was born in Logan County, Nebraska on March 18, 1897. She died at Aurora, Nebraska on November 21, 1977 following several weeks of failing health at the age of 80 years, 8 months and 3 days. Most of her lifetime was spent in Logan County. Jesse Foster and Gertrude Andre were united in marriage on January 12, 1916 at Stapleton, Nebraska. Twelve children were born to them. They farmed in Logan County until 1951 when they moved to a farm near Stockham, Nebraska, where they farmed until retiring in 1957, when they moved to Aurora, where they were residing when her husband died on November 9, 1970. Mrs. Foster was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, two sons, George and John Foster, one daughter, Mrs. Catherine Kinkennon, three brothers, Lewis, Clark and Grover Andre and her sister, Mrs. Lydia Weber. Her survivors are six sons, Fran Foster of North Platte, Charles Foster of Grand Island, Harold Foster of Richmond, California, Robert Foster of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Jesse Foster of Milpitas, California and Donald Foster of North Platte; three daughters, Mrs. Lola Hopkins and Mrs. Helen Hopkins both of Aurora and Luella Foster, a missionary in Venezuela; brother, George Andre of North Platte; sister, Mrs. Tava Steck of Romaland, California; 37 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren and other relatives and close friends.
