Observation by Lonnie Mahan. The 1900 census indicates James was born in 1886. His WW I Registration Card indicates 1886. The WW II Registration Card indicates 1884. The Application for Headstone originally indicated 1884 but was changed to 1886, but the headstone was made with 1884. The Death Certificate indicates 1884. I am going to use 18 Dec 1886 as date of birth for my records but will leave it as 1884 per the headstone.

James Benly Rhoades, FAG# 62995859, was the third child born to John Hiram and Louisa Matilda Stiles Rhoades. John and Matilda were married in 1880. Their first child was John Wesley Rhoades, born about 15 Nov 1883 in Goliad, Texas, but his 1918 WWI Draft Registration Card lists his birth as 15 Nov 1884; however, when calculating the months, he would have been born in 1883. He listed his nearest relative as Fannie Rhoades, who was born 12 May 1885 in Goliad, Texas. These dates line up with James Benly being born on 18 Dec 1886. The graves of John Hiram Rhoades, Louisa Stiles Rhoades, and John Wesley Rhoades' grave have not yet been located. There is also another sibling, Henry H. Rhoades, born Jul 1890, that is not yet verified.
