"Francis W. Belding, born Oct. 28th, 1830, married Miss Julia Day, daughter of Daniel Day, Esq., of Otisco. He settled on a farm two miles west of Otisco Center, where his widow and children now live. He died March 6th, 1879, after a long and painful illness. He was a man of uncommon intelligence and industry and was held in high esteem by all who ever knew him. His children are Edward E. [1864-1936], Ralph [1866-1952], Blanche [1870-1961], Grace [1872-1916] and Pearl [1876-1968]. They have an excellent farm and beautiful home."

Ellis, E. R., Biographical Sketches of Richard Ellis, the First Settler of Ashfield, Mass, and His Descendants, Wm. Graham Printing Co., Detroit, MI, 1888, p.: 170

Marker shows he died March 7, 1879, aged: 48y 4m 9d. This provided 2 possible birth dates depending on the method of calculation, one being Oct. 26, 1830 and the other being Oct. 29, 1830. The above biographical sketch by E. R. Ellis, M.D. says he died March 6th, not the 7th, and the birth date shown in the sketch does translate to 48y 4m 9d. The MI Death record does reflect he died on March 7th. of asthma.
