John A. McDaniel, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 4, 2010 in Plano, TX. He was born on August 8, 1929 in Casey Creek, KY., the son of Clifford and Bertha McDaniel.
On December 15, 1950 John married Shirley (Hadley) McDaniel at Mt. Zion Church of God in Taylor County, KY. Shirley passed away on May 16, 2009.
John and Shirley moved to Seymour, IN in 1962 where they raised their three children. Both were members of the First Church of God in Seymour, IN, and John retired from Dickson's, Inc. in 1988.
John is survived by daughters Ramona Southerland (Keith) of Dallas, TX, Johnetta Mass (Steve) of Fairview, TX, and son Dorian McDaniel (Eve) of Avon, IN. John was also the proud grandpa of Brayden and Shay Southerland, Barrett McDaniel, Stephen Mass, and Aubry and Dylon Rader.
Also surviving John are sisters Bonnie Williams (Perkins) and Oleda Curry, and a brother, Clifford McDaniel, Jr. Preceding him in death are his parents and siblings Cecil, Haskel, Sylvetta, Wesley and Charles.
Funeral Services will be conducted at Voss Chapel on Saturday, May 8, at 1:30 P.M. with Rev. Laurie Davis officiating.
Burial will be alongside his wife of 59 years at Riverview Cemetery with a Voss Dove Tribute.
Friends may call at Voss Chapel on Friday, May 7, from 5:00-8:00 PM and on Saturday from 12 noon until time of the service.
