E.A. Dawson, 86, died at his home near Collinsville on January 29, and funeral services were held Friday afternoon at Mount Zion Cemetery, Rev. Smith of Collinsville, officiating. The deceased is survived by his wife, three children and twenty-eight grandchildren. The children are M.D. Dawson of Dexter, Mrs. Nannie Cox and Mrs. Pollie Cox of Collinsville
Mr. Dawson was born in Illinois December 18, 1840 and came to Grayson County, Texas. After living there several years, he moved to Cooke County where he spent the remainder of his life.
On July 8, 1869, he was married to Miss Lucinda Parsons, and to this union were born six children, two sons and four daughters, only three of whom are living. Mr. Dawson professed faith in Christ in early manhood and affiliated with the Baptist Church. He was a Confederate soldier during the Civil War, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
