Wright was a farmer and Miller and lived on a mill pond.He enlisted in the "Duplin Rifles" under command of Col. Thomas S Kenans militia about 1861.He joined the 43rd regiment N C Troops Co. A on April 28 1862 as a Private . He was wounded and taken prisoner in Md from April 29 1865 to June 24 1865.On the way to Appomattox he and a comrade, Futrell were captured leaving the honor of surrendering their arms to General Grant to two others. He is recorded as having brown hair dark grey eyes and was 5'111/2". Married 3 times, he had 4 children by his 1st wife Lennie Horne, 9 by 2nd wife Susan Hunter and 1 by 3rd wife Betsy Ann Milton.
